Eatonton, GA-Arthur Darley, 82, passed away on November 19, 2011 at his residence. Chapel services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Reverend Dale Darley will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at Crest Lawn.
Mr. Darley was born in Mt. Vernon, Georgia to the late Sidney and Doshie Davis Darley. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the Federal Aviation Administration for 34 years as a radar services chief. Mr. Darley was a member of the American Legion, the Masons and the DAV.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Darley was predeceased by wife Sarah Smith Darley, daughter Cynthia Darley and step-son James Sapp.
Mr. Darley is survived by wife Sarah Whelchel Darley of Eatonton; children Joy D. (Howard) Holl of Charleston, SC, George Stephen Darley of Jacksonville, FL, Robert T. (Sheila) Darley of Charleston, SC, Donna Dumont of Batesburg, SC, and Reverend Dale Alan (Leigh Ann) Darley of Scottsville, KY; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Billie D. (Robert) Babb of Dalton, GA; and step-children Marcia Knight of Byron, Mickey (Renee) Sapp of Forsyth, Tamee McDonald of Byron and Tonya (Mike) Craig of Macon.
